Veterinary Referral Clinician – Orthopaedics & Soft Tissue
Sunbeam Vets Northpoint is an established, multi-disciplinary, referral hospital which encompasses the culture and values we pride ourselves on at IVC Evidensia. Sunbeam Vets is part of IVC Evidensia referral network with a high level of referral caseloads for Orthopaedic services.
Our industry leading referral services include CT Scanning, Radiography, Ultrasound, Laparoscopy, Endoscopy, Inhouse Laboratory, Orthopaedic Surgery (including spinal surgery), and Canine Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation. From this site we provide specialist led multi-discipline veterinary refferals and a 24-hour emergency care service for pet owners across Munster. The site has easy access from the M8 and is located in the north of Cork city.

The Role
Find Your Purpose in our Purpose-Built Hospital
This will be an exciting and varied position, where you will balance clinical and referral responsibilities. You will work alongside an experienced team of Vets and Nurses, delivering high standards of patient service for the hospital.
- Full-time, Permanent position based in our Northpoint Referral Hospital
- Flexible, Part-time options available for the right candidate
- Salary from €80,000 commensurate with experience level
- Up to 40 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to compliment our team, ensuring high standards of care and fostering an environment of continuous professional development.
Handle a varied caseload, including emergency and critical care, orthopaedic and/or soft tissue advanced surgery.
Your duties in Sunbeam will include, but not be limited to –
- Being an advocate of the hospital and overall IVC Evidensia Referral Network, engaging with clients and colleagues from other practices utilising our referral services
- Develop a collaborative culture within your discipline, harnessing individual expertise and experience to ensure a motivated and productive team.
- Regular meetings with your Clinical leaderships to ensure that clinical standards are being maintained, and group policies and procedures are being adhered to.
- Work with the entire Nursing team to deliver a cohesive and client focused service where we are united to provide a high standard of client and patient care across a 24/7 operation.
- Be proactive in spotting opportunities to drive performance, growth and efficiency across the referral service.
Applicant Requirements
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon – Certified or Diplomate (DACVS/DipECVS) in Orthopaedics and/or Soft Tissue Surgery to lead our referral service.
- All applicants must be registered to practice Veterinary medicine with the Veterinary Council of Ireland and eligible to work in Ireland from January 2025.
- Must be a Certificate holder or Diplomate in Orthopaedics and/or Soft Tissue Surgery
- Previous experience of working in a multi discipline referral hospital
- Experience in developing and mentoring junior clinicians is desirable but not essential to the role
- Must be a team player and excellent communicator; happy to work with a compassionate team to make a real difference for pets and clients.
- Must be emphathetic and have confidence to manage both clients and patient needs
