Veterinary Nurse / Veterinary Technician – Small Animal

Rathcoole Veterinary Clinic | South Dublin
Full-time, Permanent
Salary €30,000-€32,000 DOE

A Nursing Role With Real Opportunity to Grow

Rathcoole Veterinary Clinic is offering an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Nurse or Veterinary Technician looking to build a rewarding career in a supportive, close-knit practice.

Whether you’re already working as a nurse/technician, newly qualified, or considering a move to Ireland, this role offers the chance to develop your clinical skills in a hands-on environment—with support available for those who may wish to pursue VCI registration in the future.

This is a role where you’ll be truly valued. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team where your contribution matters, your ideas are welcomed, and your development is genuinely supported.

The Role

This is a varied, practical nursing role covering all aspects of first-opinion small animal practice. Your day-to-day will include clinical nursing, surgical support, inpatient care, nurse consultations and client communication, all working collaboratively to keep the practice running smoothly.

There is no out-of-hours or on-call work, allowing for a healthy and sustainable work–life balance. The clinic operates Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, with Saturdays shared on a fair rota.

A Practice Where You Can Make Your Mark

Rathcoole Veterinary Clinic is a modern, well-equipped small animal practice with digital radiography, ultrasound, dental equipment and an in-house laboratory. The caseload is varied and engaging, offering excellent exposure for those developing their skills, and autonomy for those with more experience.

You’ll be joining a small, collaborative team consisting of a Veterinary Surgeon, a Veterinary Nurse and an ACA, creating a supportive and personal working environment. As the clinic continues to grow, there is real opportunity to contribute to how the practice evolves—from nursing protocols to day-to-day workflows.

Who This Role Will Suit

We welcome applications from:

  • Qualified Veterinary Nurses
  • Veterinary Technicians or Nurses trained overseas
  • Candidates not yet registered in Ireland but interested in working towards VCI registration in the future

Experience is beneficial but not essential. If you’re earlier in your career, you’ll benefit from hands-on exposure and a supportive learning environment. If you’re more experienced, you’ll have the opportunity to work with autonomy and help shape the nursing function within the clinic.

A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for animal care are the most important qualities.

Support With Development & Registration

For candidates relocating to Ireland or not yet VCI registered, support and guidance can be provided to help you understand the registration process and pursue this longer-term if it aligns with your career goals.

This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience within an Irish veterinary practice while working towards your next professional step.

Rewarding You Properly

Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll benefit from a comprehensive package designed to support your wellbeing and career development.

22 days annual leave + birthday leave

Wellbeing & Support
Paid maternity, paternity and adoptive leave
Cycle to Work scheme
